Why is Chumbak on Indian watchlists? Netflix's India Top 10 shows chart placed Season 1 at No. 1 for the week of September 14-20, 2026. That is a past weekly result, not a live ranking. The official title page is the legal place to check the show.
The setup, without spoilers
Chumbak is an ensemble comedy about five neighboring families whose everyday problems become everyone's business. Netflix describes the series as a comedy set in Chumbak Colony. Its cast and character guide places the fictional colony in Mumbai's Chembur and introduces the Merchant family and its neighbors. That guide is more useful after the first episode if you prefer meeting characters without advance detail.
Cast, creators and format
The Netflix title page names Neena Gupta, Deven Bhojani and Manasi Parekh among the cast and credits creators Aatish Kapadia and Jamnadas Majethia. Its listing shows 16 episodes for the series. The Netflix page lists Hindi original audio and English subtitles among several options; available tracks can vary by account and device.
Is this the right mood?
Choose Chumbak when you want an Indian neighborhood ensemble and family comedy rather than a missing-person thriller. For the opposite mood, see our Irumudi streaming guide, which explains that film's darker premise and dated chart position. We have not screened Chumbak, so this is a sourced watch guide, not a claim about its quality.
