The Last First: Winter K2 is announced to premiere globally on Apple TV on October 2, 2026. Directed by Amir Bar-Lev, the documentary follows a 2021 attempt to climb K2 in winter and the pressures surrounding extreme mountaineering. This is a release guide, not a watched review.
Winter K2 OTT release date and platform
Apple's official press page gives October 2, 2026 as the release date, and its trailer announcement calls it a global premiere on Apple TV. That is the source for the date, rather than a guessed Indian launch hour. We have not tested the film on an Indian account. Search for the complete title in the Apple TV app and check local access and your subscription.
The expedition behind the documentary
The film focuses on Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani father-son climbers Ali and Sajid Sadpara. Their 2021 expedition aims at a first winter summit of K2, when weather and conditions make the ascent particularly dangerous. Apple's description also names Nims and his Sherpa team, alongside commercial clients, influencer climbers and film crews.
The story looks beyond climbing technique. It considers how ambition, money, status and competition shape decisions on a mountain where mistakes have serious consequences. We do not recap the outcome or claim a personal verdict on the film.
Director and people featured
Amir Bar-Lev directs The Last First: Winter K2. As a documentary, its central people are real mountaineers rather than actors playing fictional roles. Apple's materials identify John Snorri Sigurjónsson, Ali Sadpara and Sajid Sadpara at the centre of the expedition account, with other teams adding to the wider story.
