Netflix
Below is announced to arrive on Netflix on October 8, 2026, with all six episodes. Josh Hartnett, Mackenzie Davis and Charlie Heaton lead the Newfoundland-set thriller. This is an upcoming-release guide checked on October 3, not a review based on watching the series.
October 5 catalogue check: listing is not playback
Netflix lists the Josh Hartnett-led limited series on its public title page. Tudum confirms all six episodes arrive October 8. Its page lists both a teaser and a full trailer; neither is evidence that the episodes can already be played. Hindi audio and Indian-account playback remain unverified. Netflix public title page checked October 5, 2026.
Below release date, Netflix and episode count
Netflix Tudum's September 10 trailer article states that all six episodes arrive on October 8. That supports a six-part launch, rather than a weekly schedule. The date is an official Netflix announcement; we have not tested access on an Indian account or confirmed a local launch hour.
What is Below about?
Calvin Penney is a fisherman in a small Newfoundland community. An unidentified sea creature threatens the town, while a tragedy from his family's past still troubles him. When his son Wade is caught up in the danger, Calvin works with visiting marine researcher Fonda to protect his family and find out what is happening offshore.
The setup mixes a creature mystery with family tensions and the future of a fishing community. We are keeping this summary spoiler-free: the trailer is not evidence of the final explanation, and no ending or creature identity is invented here.
Cast, creator and episode directors
Josh Hartnett plays Calvin Penney, Mackenzie Davis plays Fonda Howander and Charlie Heaton plays Wade Penney. Netflix also lists Willow Kean as Ruth, Ruby Stokes as Mary, Rohan Campbell as Jay and Kaleb Horn as Noah.
Jesse McKeown created the series and is its showrunner. Karen Walton, Perry Chafe and Natty Zavitz are named as writers in the official article. Jamie Childs, Helen Shaver and Stephen Dunn directed episodes. This is a series with multiple directors, not a Josh Hartnett-directed film.
